askM 2.1 — your manuals, linked and in their own order
A manual is more than a pile of sections: it has an order, and its pages point to each other. Version 2.1 of askM respects both.
Each manual now opens in the Library on its own table of contents, exactly as its publisher defines it. In an MMEL, that means the list of effective documentary units, the list of modifications and the summary of highlights at the top, then General Information, the MEL entries, the MEL items in ATA order — 00, 21, 22, 23… — and the operational procedures. Sections that don’t apply to your aircraft are not listed, and section titles read the way the manual prints them, including the mark of customized documentary units.
References between manuals now work. A CDL item that points to the MMEL, an MMEL procedure that points to the FCOM, an FCTM chapter that points to the FCOM: tap the link and the page opens in the other manual, as long as it is installed. Back returns to where you were, and the page header always names the manual and the section in front of you. A link to a manual you don’t have says so, instead of failing silently.
Pictures open full size when you tap them, with pinch to zoom and a Rotate button for the charts that are drawn sideways — the brake cooling charts of the MMEL, for example. The lists of documentary units, modifications and highlights now use the full width of the page and show only the rows for your aircraft, and passages cited by an answer are marked even when they contain an abbreviation.
Settings now shows which version you run and whether a newer one is on the App Store, with an Update button. As always, everything else stays on your iPad or Mac — no cloud, no account, no telemetry — and askM remains a personal study aid: always defer to the authoritative published manuals and your operator’s procedures.
